Permit Parking – list of frequently asked questions

Bill is going to call to get the info on the cost of & procedures for getting permits.   The committee (Bill, Kristi, Joanne & Amelia) will need to meet to discuss strategy – letter & list of questions, door to door, inclusion of Marigold. Jim B offered to call the City for clarification on costs.

Hicks/Ronk donation

Kathy said Ronk will not be available until late July or August to discuss sign.  Kathy will ask the City for permission to plant a tree in Emerson Park Park and check to see if they will water it.

RC School anniversary

We discussed Mindi’s request for a new sign for the school.  The consensus was that we do not intend to do any fundraising, but will distribute any info she provides us with to our neighbors.

VI.                New Business

Water Pressure report

Jim D & Liz met with Sneathen of Public Works, regarding the water pressure and the new hotel development.   Jim had maps that showed the main 6” water line that runs along Harrison from Michigan Ave to Mt Hope.  Our current gallon per minute rate is 500 and should be 2000-2500.   This will happen when the line is replaced with a 12” pipe in 2010-11.  Money is already earmarked in the City budget.

The new hotel will get water from a line that runs from the school across the south property line to the back of the hotel and also tie into Arbor Dr.

Sneathen will also try to get an answer as to who owns and is responsible for upkeep of “Assumption Driveway” on that site

August social event

The two main obstacles to having a social event at the park are lack of seating and facilities to cool and clean up food.  Marcia will let Debi know when CRC is planning to have ice cream social and if they would agree to have it at the park.

List for rotation of Secretary

Kathy passed around a paper asking people to sign up to take meeting minutes for a specific month.  The list is as follows:

August              Kathy Jacobs
September        Marcia Van Ness
October            Debi Robinson
November         Mark Grebner
January             Jim Bebermeyer
February           Brendan Boyle
March               Jim DeWitt
April                 Kate Benington
May                  .......
June                 .......

Jeff Friedle stated he will not participate.

VII.              Board Concerns

Debi mentioned that she has been in touch with HoJo’s front desk several times because of rowdy tenants.  It was suggested that if this continues, she call or email Tass Mekani, the owner.

Jeff expressed a concern over the speeding on Trowbridge Road. Brendan says a new 30mph sign has been added on the westbound side and he has seen more police presence lately.

Joanne announced that the City’s Avondale project is having an Open House next Wed, June 18 from 5-7pm for interested people to view the new development.

Jim D. said that the police recently removed the owner of 1225 Ivanhoe from his home.  He is mentally ill, verbally abusive and has been threatening neighbors, including children. The Police say their hands are tied.  Susan Sontag has been the Police contact person for the neighborhood.

It was suggested that she get in touch with his case worker to see if there was anything we as a neighborhood can do to protect ourselves and help him.

Brendan mentioned that the Mobil station is getting quite overgrown and he asked Kathy to call the City.

The graffiti is still there and it was suggested that people get on MDOT website and file a complaint.
